Privacy-enhancing technologies become useful when organisations can apply them to a real workflow. At Singapore Data Festival 2026, we brought that question into both a live demonstration and a discussion on responsible data use.

The festival ran from 20–23 July in Singapore. Silence Laboratories demonstrated encrypted computing on the Day 2 main stage and contributed to the roundtable, Responsible AI & Data Use: How PETs Can Be Useful.

From a privacy requirement to a working computation

Many valuable decisions depend on information held by more than one organisation. A fraud check may need signals from several institutions. An AI workflow may need context that a partner cannot disclose. The practical challenge is to make that information useful while preserving the boundaries around it.

Our demonstration focused on making encrypted computation easier to apply. Translating business intent into a privacy-preserving workflow is an important part of adoption: teams need a way to define the question, agree what may be computed and understand which results can be released.

What adoption asks of the technology

For us, these conversations connect cryptographic capabilities with the work of enterprise teams. Integration, usable tooling and a clear business purpose all matter. A strong privacy primitive has to fit the systems and responsibilities already in place.

That is the direction behind our work on private computation: helping organisations collaborate on sensitive inputs while retaining control over what they reveal. Singapore Data Festival provided a useful setting to bring that architecture into a broader conversation about responsible AI and data use.
